Training for professionals
We offer a range of different training packages for professionals, completely free of charge, to meet the needs of your role or organisation. The training gives you the tools to recognise domestic abuse, to respond effectively and safely, and to make referrals.
“I have left with a better knowledge about the subject and also how I might fit into the referral
process.”
Anyone can refer to the Make a Change programme, and any professional can access our training. Examples of professionals we’ve delivered training to in the past include: domestic abuse services; drug and alcohol services; social workers; police officers; homelessness organisations; NHS, GP, and health services; university and education staff; and various departments within local authorities.
Please use the form below to contact the training team in your area and request information.

Make a Change is a whole system approach to the perpetration of domestic abuse, developed by Respect. The intervention is inspired by Change That Lasts, a model developed by Women’s Aid Federation of England and Welsh Women’s Aid. Make a Change is aligned to the principles and ethos of Women’s Aid Federation of England’s Change That Lasts approach but works to respond to those who use — rather than experience — abusive behaviours in their relationships.
Respect is working in partnership with Women’s Aid Federation of England throughout the development of Make a Change, to ensure that the intervention always considers the needs of survivors of domestic abuse.
